Abstract

The Northern Corridor Improvements project will provide a much needed transport upgrade for the North Shore. This will ease congestion in the wider area and create better links to the growing North West area. It will complete the Western Ring Route, opening up access for the North Shore direct to Auckland Airport, and providing an alternative route through the city.

The project includes a new motorway connection between the Northern Motorway (SH1) and Upper Harbour Highway (SH18) and includes additional lanes on SHl. More than 7kms of new walking and cycling paths will also be built.

The project is a key multi modal initiative for Auckland. It will extend the Northern Busway from Constellation Station to Albany Station which will improve bus journeys during peak times.

Biography

Adam Blackie - Structures Manager Adam has proven experience in managing the safe delivery of earthworks, drainage, pavement, and surfacing works on NZ Transport Agency projects in the Auckland Region. His skills have contributed to the successful delivery of major projects including the SH16/18 Hobsonville Deviation and
SH1 Upper Harbour Highway to Greville Road. These gave him a good understanding of local ground and traffic conditions, and suitable temporary traffic management strategies to keep traffic and public transport flowing smoothly.

Adam's astute programming and flexible sequencing results in safe and efficient delivery of works. A s Construction Manager on Greville Road, his construction methodologies maximised efficiencies and safety, delivering the works four months early with zero Tis, and greatly reducing disruption to customers and communities. His work with Watercare Services Ltd at Mangere gave him a good understanding of the approvals process for any works associated with the dam, including the role of DamWatch.
