Alistair Fussell (Steel Construction New Zealand) discussed observations and preliminary lessons learnt from the performance of structural steel buildings during the devastating Christchurch earthquake. In the aftermath of February's event, Alistair spent time with steel researchers inspecting a number of steel buildings in the Christchurch area. He was also a contributor to a paper entitled "Steel Building Damage From the Christchurch Earthquake of February 22, 2011, NZST".
