PRESENTATION – “Higher Qualification & Improved Practice for Structural Engineers” by SESOC

In September 2013 SESOC published the discussion document and invited members to comment on a series of proposed recommendations aimed at raising professional standards. SESOC has received a limited number of submissions on the discussion document.  Response has indicated a general desire to improve the standards of the profession (both in general ability of professionals and the regulatory environment), however there are polarising views on how this can be achieved.

Given that there were polarising views and that not all respondents specifically addressed some of the queries raised further consultation is considered necessary. To facilitate this consultation SESOC will be undertaking a nationwide road-show to allow members to hear the rationale behind SESOC’s proposed recommendations, take part in a debate, and have the opportunity to express concerns and aspirations for our profession.
