Abstract
The design of modern stadiums and arenas is a significant financial commitment, hence it is critical to ensure the design is both economical while not jeopardising the structural integrity and safety under varying environmental conditions. This talk will focus on current methodologies to determine the wind design loads, including ways to provide reliable initial design load estimates based on prior stadium studies undertaken globally.
Biography
Kevin Peddie is a respected engineer whose project experience includes more than 1,000 buildings/structures, neighbourhoods and campuses across Australasia and the Middle East. This includes stadium/arena projects throughout New Zealand, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Kevin’s clients benefit from the depth of his expertise in the modelling of pedestrian wind and of natural ventilation in tall buildings and has undertaken extensive research in modelling techniques to ensure the accurate prediction of airflow movement, including on-site verification of natural ventilation performance. In addition to his building performance work, Kevin has consulted with numerous councils on the development of their wind comfort criteria to ensure safe and comfortable conditions for pedestrians.
