Abstract
This presentation will discuss the preliminary findings from a building damage reconnaissance mission conducted following the 2024 Hualien Earthquake in Taiwan. This mission, a collaborative effort involving researchers from New Zealand, Japan, and Taiwan, focused on evaluating the effectiveness of retrofitted buildings and the associated retrofit policies. The insights gained are intended to inform and enhance ongoing efforts to develop retrofit guidelines in New Zealand.
