Biography

Dr Pouyan Zarnani is the Academic Head of BEE Dept Labs at AUT. He has been considerably active in Structural/Earthquake Engineering research being recognised internationally through his findings. He has been successful in securing over $3.7M in research grants over his career in different roles as PI/Co-PI, supported by MBIE and EQC. He is the inventor of the Resilient Slip Friction Joint Technology, a New Zealand Hi-Tech Earthquake-proofing solution already adopted in several buildings in NZ and overseas such as in Nelson Airport New Terminal, Hutt Valley new Medical Hub, and Fast & Epp Consultants Headquarter Office in Vancouver.
