Abstract

The steel structures standard (NZS 3404) specifies material requirements to ensure the dependable performance of steel structures. In this presentation an overview will be given of the NZS 3404 material provisions, including the selection of steels for low temperature and seismic applications. In addition, consideration will be given to the use of alternative steels in conjunction with NZS 3404. Attendees of this presentation will learn how to confidently specify structural steels for building and infrastructure projects.
