Abstract

The Central Plant and Tunnel project involves the provisioning of works for major new services infrastructure upgrades across the Auckland City Hospital campus. The project comprises the key establishment of the new A40 building, a 240 m services tunnel, and associated infrastructure and plant to serve the existing and future requirements of Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai. The A40 Central Plant building is a six-story reinforced concrete structure with an Importance Level IL4 and a design life of 100 years. The building is supported on triple friction pendulum base isolators and is used to house critical services infrastructure.
