This site visit to one of the high profile structures testing facility is limited to 20 engineers.
Please ensure you are there 10 minutes before the event starts for the compulsory Health and Safety site induction facilitated by the Structures Testing Lab team.
The following site specific PPE is compulsory to bring with you:
• hi-visibility vest or jacket (can be vest, shirt or jacket)
• hard hat (with chin strap)
• steel-capped safety footwear
• long sleeves shirt and trousers

Abstract
The state-of-the-art University of Auckland Civil Structures Testing Lab (Newmarket) purpose-built building, which includes 200m2 of strong floor area and 9m high strong walls to allow testing of full-scale civil engineering projects, is home to one of Australasia's largest earthquake testing facilities. This building was named Supreme Award winner at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards (NZCPA) in May 2016.
This tour will cover latest structures research carried at the School of Engineering, Civil & Environmental Department.
Biography
Dr Lucas Hogan is the Director of the Structures Testing Lab and a Lecturer in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department. He has extensive experience in large scale structural and geotechnical testing both in a laboratory setting as well as the field.
